Position Responsibilities

Plant specific issues happen daily, requiring support from AWA Purchasing for supplier-related issues. The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Plant Daily Issues (PDI) members will support the Manufacturing Plant to resolve daily supplier-related issues quickly and are a dedicated resource to the assigned Aisin Manufacturing Plant.
  • PDI issues include:
    • Ordering issues with suppliers
    • Receiving issues with suppliers
    • Support of Quality issues resolution with suppliers
    • Process Change Request (PCR) / Supplier Change Request (SCR) documentation coordination with the Manufacturing plant teams and AWA Purchasing teams (Project & Commodity)
    • Support Manufacturing plant meetings / Project team activities
    • Support gathering information from the Manufacturing plant for Commodity and Project Teams, including, but not limited to:
      • Documentation on Expedites (unplanned freight)
      • Documentation on other costs to send to supplier, such as Quality debits, etc.
      • Inventory confirmations (as needed).
      • Other necessary documentation (i.e. drawings, etc.)
    • Daily management, follow-ups and reporting of open issues and activities to resolve the open issues via Problem Follow-up Sheet (PFUS).
  • Support / Lead Supplier improvement activities and problem resolution (non-commercial issues) with other Aisin teams.
  • Management of Supplier Force Majeure coordination / activities, in conjunction with the Purchasing Commodity teams.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external contacts
  • Ability to create effective memos and letters
  • Capable of analyzing quotations, developing budgets, and understanding cost impact
  • Ability to comprehend technical and business correspondence
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and blueprints
  • Strong computer skills and ability to create graphs, spreadsheets, and charts

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in automotive industry with understanding of standard job functions and requirements within the industry.
  • Prior purchasing experience in automotive industry or industrial environment.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience in multi-cultural environment, preferably Japanese-based.
  • Fluency in English with additional language skill in Japanese, Chinese, German, and/or Spanish.

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, other Applied Science, or Purchasing supply chain management is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Business or other non-technical area is acceptable based on proven technical skill.
  • Internal candidates with significant Aisin experience will be consider without degree.

Work Environment Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
  • Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.
  • Must be able to operate as an effective team member, working in person or remotely.
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies.
  • Must be able to lead activity to achieve desired goals.

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements:

  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must be willing and available to work such weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 10%
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
